Laura Burak  is a registered  dietitian, a foodie, a wannabe chef, a yogi and a mama in the Long Island suburbs outside NYC. She has been passionate about delicious, fresh food from an early age and began cooking healthier meals for her family when she was a teen. Her interest  in health and nutrition directed her to a clear career path and she never looked back. Laura  graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from Penn State, one of the only nutrition undergraduate degree programs in the country and then she immediately moved to the Big Apple after college to begin a dual dietetic internship and nutrition master’s degree program at New York University.

She is now a true OG RD with  over 17 years of experience in nutrition and food studies, working with patients of all ages, from all cultures and backgrounds. Her work has helped clients ranging from the 8-year-old picky eater to the poorly controlled diabetic to the new mom who is struggling to lose the baby weight. Although the majority of her time has been spent working in hospital and private practice settings, she has been an adjunct professor at NYU, frequently contributes to food and nutrition-related publications and media outlets, publishes recipe e-books, launched an online nutrition course GetNaked Prep School, founded the blog GetNaked Nutrition, and just published a new book Slim Down with Smoothies. But most significantly, Laura is a mom to a 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy who love to challenge her encouragement of green foods.

Before moving out of the city, she worked for the private practices of Joy Bauer Nutrition and Brown and Medina Nutrition as a nutrition counselor, and as a clinical dietitian at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Prior to that, she worked for five years in the ICUs as a critical care dietitian at Beth Israel Hospital in downtown Manhattan.

She finds no greater pleasure than when she helps a client struggling with their weight management, chronic disease, or ailment.  She relates to her clients and their struggles, and they work together as a partnership in the most realistic way to improve their lives. Laura is as real as real gets when it comes to the craziness of our busy lives and strives to create a positive, comfortable environment for people to discuss what can sometimes be very serious and sensitive topics.

Many of her clients have been through the gamut of diets, gimmicks and menu plans that consist of mostly rabbit food and cardboard crackers, but they work together to change the story in their heads and go from a mentality of DIETING TO LIVING.  They learn to appreciate the power of food on their health without sacrificing their social lives, travel plans, and overall lifestyle.

Laura also has the pleasure of working with many children, adolescents and college students (and their families!) to build a healthy foundation now and for their futures.

It’s time to finally ditch the diet and eat real food!

Rayna McCann MS, RD, CDN is a registered dietitian by day and dog mom by night. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Science from Penn State University and completed her dietetic internship through the University of Maryland at College Park.  She received her Master’s degree in nutrition from Stony Brook University.

She has worked at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY as a clinical dietitian for the past 5 years where she splits her time between working as an inpatient oncology dietitian and with outpatient infusion patients at The Cancer Institute.

Rayna has published research for the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo and the American Institute for Cancer Research. In addition, she writes articles for the Long Island Weekly and received an award recognizing her dedication to patient safety.

Aside from her professional life, Rayna is a travel fanatic, follows a vegetarian lifestyle due to her passion for animals, and loves a great spin class.  Fun fact: nutrition runs in the family! Rayna was meant to be a dietitian because her mom is also one. She works with clients to teach them how to have a healthy relationship with food by fueling their bodies with nutritious and delicious food.

Rayna is always smiling and she looks forward to meeting you!
